Hello, I'm trying to create this effect but I can't figure it out.
I have some text displayed on a background. The first layer is the text, the second one is the background.
I want to add the old film effect only on the text, not on all the frame.
How could I do that ?
That is a very helpful post, and I was glad to see it. The rest of this message is somewhat off-topic, but I want to respond to you directly, and this seems like an accessible spot. Unfortunately at some time in the past here on this forum, I think it was during the "About 3D LE" debate with Satish, you were seriously offended to the extent that you deleted all or nearly all of your messages posts from this forum. That was your choice, because the forum software offered you that option. I somewhat doubt that a mass extinction was what the forum software designers had in mind when they added the retroactive delete message option. But the forum as a whole suffered a distinct loss when you deleted all those messages, most of which had no relevance to your problem with Satish. The deleted messages contained a lot of good advice, insight, expertise, and helpful information.
With all that said, I am wondering if you could fill in a few holes in a message thread or two. This thread has several holes:
I have been using the forum's Search utility to look for information on rotoscoping in Vegas, and that is the context of my query. Those threads seemed to contain relevant information, which was partly lost in the holes. If you prefer not to respond, I accept that. And it has been a long time since those discussions, so the content of your deleted messages may be as much a mystery to you as to me. However, there may be some simple way to "Undo" those deletions. I don't know how Sonic Foundry's forum software works, but it may be that the deleted messages are actually retained on a hard disk or a backup tape and that they could be restored with your permission and, of course, SoFo's willingness to do so.
You *might* be able to leave out the mask -- the reason for doing so is that if your text effect only runs partially through the video, you've still got to have a mask all the way through to render it. Timewise, I think the rendering times are pretty close either way.
