Effects

The transition effects seem to have a problem or I do. I can't place a transition effect on a video clip unless I first place a 'Fade Offset' on it. Is this normal?

Also, after placing a 'Fade Offset' and then the transition effect I find another problem. After saving and closing my video the next time I open it, all the 'Fade Offsets' in my video clips have a transition effect. And I didn't put one on them. What am I doing wrong here. Hope I'm being clear in my explanation. Thanks.

A transition is a change from one thing to the next. Typically you will overlap two clips on the same track and apply the transition to that overlap. If you don't have an overlap with another clip then the only other thing you can apply a transition to is a fade. It's very rare that you'll apply a transition to a single clip, though it does have it's uses once in a while.

No idea about the second problem. Sorry.

Makes perfect sense now that you point it out. Thanks.

As far as the 2nd problem. What I have been doing is this....in looking for the transition that I want, I have been placing one effect over another thinking that the new effect simply over writes the one already there. Don't know but this might be causing the problem. Will delete the old effect instead of over writing to see if this solves the proble.
