Effects Help

I am using Vegas 6 and need some guidance/help regarding the use of a mask. I have created a 'doorway' much like the passageway used in the 'Stargate' series. I would like to create the effect of someone walking out of the 'doorway' towards the camera. Essentially appearing head-on out of a fog. Do I have to keyframe the mask? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Better yet, would be a .veg file somewhere. Thanks again.

The site in the link below has some amazing information on using masks. I think it was done by one of the Sony engineers. It may or may not help you with your immediate task, but it will certainly give you some ideas.

Thanks to both for your replies. I will check out the link from johnmeyer. The 'Wallwalking' veg resulted from an original question I posed for Chienworks. But I can only get it to work if the 'actor' enters/exits the mask from an angle. I was trying for a 'full frontal' approach like stepping out from a mirror. Thanks again for your help.

For full frontal, consider having the actor walk into a spotlight in an otherwise dark room. Key this on top of whatever background you wish. Play.

During the VASST :30 vid contest I seem to recall someone having an entry that was very close to what you are asking about. It had the "SG1" look but I can't recall who did it....maybe someone else will remember.
