Effects Not showing in 9e

Well, I know I did something wrong but today after spending 2 hours I cannot get any effects to show in the preview on 9e. I'm working in HDV, 32 bit Vegas 9e on XP Pro. No matter what effect I put on a shot I cannot get it to show, even the Sony effects that come with Vegas. Even simple convert to B&W or Curves will not preview. What did I do wrong? I put the shots in V8 and no problem, the effects work fine.

I do apologize if stating the obvious but have you, inadvertantly, bypassed effects in the preview window?

Thanks for the quick reply. And, I assume you are talking about the right click option on the preview effects option. It is grayed out so that was not an option to "bypass all". Wish it was the problem and then I would be happy to have egg on my face.

No, I don't think he's talking about bypass FX which would only bypass the FX on the master video bus anyway. I think he means the Split Screen View to the right of the FX button that also has an FX Bypassed option which will bypass all FX regardless of where they are (media fx, event fx, track fx, or master video bus fx)

Johnny - Thank you so much. That button has caused me such grief for years and that was the problem! Even Celluloid didn't work cause it was depressed. That solved the problem. Thank you.

You're welcome. Glad I could help.

It's even worse when you have it set to "Clipboard" and there is nothing on your clipboard. That's when people complain that they can preview video in the trimmer but the timeline video is black. We all fall victim to this once in a while. ;-)

I normally fall for 99% at track level. Then it takes for ever to render:-(
