I'm going to run a test on this but before I do I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of this.
When encoding VBR mpeg-2 does reducing the total amount of motion have any real effect on file size.
I would have thougt in theory it should do, so reducing the amount of noise from VHS tapes should help to reduce the file size. I can get rid of quite a bit by masking out the head switching 'noise' at the bottom of the frame, interesting to see if that will make a difference.
