Eliminating reverse shudder

I don't see it on my preview window but when I play a DVD that has a scene thats been reversed I get shuddering.

I understand that there is a problem with playback when using a velocity envelope to play in reverse. What is the best way to stop the shudder when playing back the entire clip in reverse? Does one have to change switches to reduce interlace flocker as well as going to properties to also change the field order? Do you render out the clip involved & then import it to replace the original clip?

I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that Vegas4 and earlier had that problem, which Vegas5 fixed. So I'm assuming you are not using Vegas5.

The "shudder" I think is caused by having the wrong field first when playing backwards.

This is a bug in Vegas. See this thread for disucssion and workarounds:

Velocity envelope bug

Read all the posts in the thread if you want to get a really good idea of how to work around the bug.

I had been under the impression that the bug occurred only if you have used a velocity envelope that started out forward & then went into reverse whereas the clip I have the problem with, I had was just right clicked & set to reverse.

I'll try your workaround.

As soon as you reverse, the problem is there.
