Embedding timeline markers into clips possible?

Reyfox wrote on 6/5/2023, 7:02 AM

Sometimes have have a fast beat per minute piece of music that I would like to edit and cut to the beat. I use Vegasaur Beat Detector to help speed up editing.

Example; using a 16 second piece of music, 44 markers are placed on the timeline. Good. But what I would like to do is have the markers be embedded into the music, to be able to move it where ever, and still have the markers and it will, at least for me, create less "clutter" on the timeline.

Thanks in advance!

Scripts can read event markers and move them to the timeline but can't go the other direction. I don't know of a way of getting the embedded event markers without adding them in the trimmer. A script can't add embedded markers - I looked into that one time and it didn't work unless something has changed in more recent versions.

Thanks for the information. I have a consumer editor where you can have embedded markers into a clip easily and was wondering if this were possible in Vegas.

Maybe a feature request.

You can render the audio to a WAV and check the option to include markers. Then import that audio into the project and markers are embedded in the wav file.

@DMT3ย Thanks! While the embedded markers are hard to see in the rendered audio clip, they are there. Awesome!

You can promote them to make them regular markers.

@Reyfox, as I said, a script can READ those embedded markers - it just can't create them. VEGAS comes with a script called "Promote Media Markers" under Tools - Scripting that will read those markers and turn them into regular markers - the opposite of what the OP wanted.

@jetdvย thanks so much! Brilliant! Now I can render with embedded markers, bring the clip back in and show the markers if necessary.
