Hello,

I have some video I edited that is a Rock musical performance.. And needs to be encoded for the web.. Since it was editied in Vegas 5, I will do the Web encoding from there..Is there a standard size I should make the video 320X240, larger?/ Is there a standard size..?? Also I will encode in Windows Media, and Quicktime, any tips for encoding?? Should I use Sorenson 3 for Quicktime?? Any tips for Window Media encoding??

Thanks,
Mike M.

320 is a standard size for anything faster than 80kpbs. Anything slower is 176.
To get a great encode, remember that people expect good sound before they're concerned with awesome vid over the web, especially at slower rates.
Reduce color saturation with the HSL filter.
Restore Blacks using the Streaming preset.
Remove as much info via cropping as you can to keep the focus on the subject and not extra stage-based info.
Remember that contrast is the enemy, and less contrast encodes better than more contrast.
Solid audio in mono is better than sketchy audio in stereo.

Is the streaming preset new in Vegas 5?

I like to render for web by:

choosing 256k default
changing size to 256 x 192 @ 15 fps

Nice sound and solid visual.

(did I mention easy?)
(I do this for both wmp & quicktime)
