Hey gang, I have a question about encoding. But first, I should tell you my workflow.
I'm shooting on a Sony TRV950, capturing the footage via Vegas 4. I then edit the footage in Vegas 4 and output as an uncompressed avi file. From there I import that file into Sorenson Squeeze 4 and I am needing to encode to mpeg1. I've noticed that the footage looks a little "pixelated" when I encode it but if I uncheck the box entitled "Deinterlace" the footage looks much much better. My question is this....should I uncheck this box when I'm encoding for other formats such as .wmv?
I can't really tell much of a difference when I check or uncheck this box for .wmv files but there is a very big difference when I encode to .mpeg. Also, is it just me or does the contrast get very high when encoding for .mpg? I can't tell much of a difference when encoding to .wmv but I have to use a custom filter in Squeeze 4 that drops the contrast a bit because the footage tends to get too contrasty when encoding to .mpg.
Thanks,
-dean
