Encoding times for V4

I am continuing to evaluate V4 ( now use Premiere and Canopus DV Raptor ). With help from this forum I now see how to do my multi camera edits and I like the colour correction capabilities. One reason I am looking to upgrade from my present system is to quickly edit and colour correct. I am looking at the new DV Raptor RT2 or to get V4 ( maybe both!!!). IF I colour correct a large number of clips from one camera, ( end up being 25% of video) does this impose a large encoding penalty to render out to DV the final video? I am still not clear as to whether V4 outputs directly from the timeline to DV or has to create a complete DV file before output. I understand that it will have to create any files that have filters etc. I like the forum here it reminds me of the early Canopus Forum in all the help available.
