End action problem

I have a video motion menu with three buttons that point to three different videos. I created the buttons by inserting "empty buttons", choosing graphic only and style set as "rectangle".

Here's my problem. When video 1 stops I want it to return to the motion menu with the second button highlighted. However when I go to the "end action" of video one I can choose the motion menu as the "destination" but the option to choose the "Destination Button" is grayed out and not available.

Any ideas? Does this have something to do with me using empty buttons as opposed to a PSD mask?

Shouldn't

With your window showing the video timeline, in the properties section under end action you should see one dropdown box where it says "Link" -- below that "Destination" where you select your menu page [NOT most recent, because DVDA doesn't know which menu will be most recent] -- then "Destination Item" for the start of the menu or loop point -- Then your "Destination Button".

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have "Destination" set to the menu I want it to go to and yet the destination button is grayed out and says N/A. This must be an issue with motion menus because I ran a test with a still menu and it worked.

Nope. The setting works with motion menus just as well as with still menus.

Did you set "Destination" to the exact menu name or did you set it to "Most Recent Menu"? It needs to set to the actual menu name.

The problem with your project is that you don't HAVE any menus. You've got two regular videos which you've added Buttons Over Video to, but this is not the same thing as a standard menu, so DVDA's menu conventions (like Destination Button) do not apply.

Is there a reason you want to use BOV instead of standard menu? If not, you should delete the two psuedo-menus you have, add regular menus (which can use videos for backgrounds), and then you will be able to set your Destination and Destination Buttons.

If you haven't got it working, Marc, & if DVDA won't let you choose the default button, you might be able to edit the existing scripting, or add a command to set the default in PgcEdit. DVDA sets the highlighted button (the default) by manipulating one of the GPRMs (variables) if I remember correctly. If you traced the scripting program flow in PgcEdit you might be able to change the necessary GPRM value easily -- the hard part is the tracing. If not, PgcEdit also lets you insert a command setting the default button; it's easier because it's a menu item I think, but I think editing what's already there instead of adding to the complexity might be preferred -- at least that's the logic I've used for menus in the past, editing rather than adding commands (I haven't tried with BOV though).

A user error on my part. I'm used to Reel DVD where I just drop in my video files when trying to make menus.
