End actions for sub menus being ignored by VLC

Hello,

I realize this may be an issue with the player software I'm using, but I want to see if anyone here has any ideas.

I've designed a DVD menu that launches sub menus with video background (interactive digital signage project).

I'm using VLC Player so I can directly launch ISO Image files. When the background video competes, the end action is to return to the main menu. This works in DVD Arch's preview. It also works in WMP. But in VLC, the background video continues to loop?

Any thoughts?

you're not using an actual DVD so try a dvd?

Thank you for the reply. I want to use an ISO image as this eliminates an additional moving part. (public kiosk projects)

Oh. Then switch to different software?

OK, on a kiosk project... Throwing ideas off the wall in case something sticks...

if Windows, are you using the portable version of VLC? If so, is it the latest VLC out - the portable version lagged last time I looked. Rather than use a DVD model, what about a browser model? Opera will probably do nicely, or else there's versions of Firefox that might work. The VLC plugins &/or AX hopefully are fixed by now. How about using Flash? And is there a possibility of doing what DVDA calls sub-menus as video titles instead?

As far as an ISO goes, are you using software to mount the image and using VLC on that, or working straight with the ISO? And, there should be no difference working with a disk image or a disc, as long as the contents are identical.

If running strictly off the CD/DVD - OS & everything - have you thought about the bootable Linux media center on a disc projects?

Can you tell us the OS you want to use?

How are you starting VLC? A command line/script such as:

vlc dvd://E: (where E: is your ramdisk,, USB stick, etc)
