Endless blue screens with veg4

Arnar wrote on 3/11/2003, 8:49 AM
I find it impossible to work on this program.
I have used vegas since day one as well as having used the same setup from version 2.0.

Vegas 4 will not work at all for me.
I have tried every possible soundcard setting (im using Motu 42i)
and it just crashes at random.

Sometimes even with nothing going on at all and when i minimise the prog for a few minutes while doing something else and then i bring it up again and ...whoops ...blue screen.

Its driving me mad especially since i managed to start a few porjects in there that im having a hard time finishing.

Ill try and find something these crashes have in common but at the moment its totally random.

id like to know if someone else is experiencing this.?

You must specify what the bluescreen says. Usually it gives the name of a dll or process that might give you a hint to what's causing it. I'd say drivers.

Please give us as much detail as you can Arnar- we'd love to track this down.

Blue Screens can only be caused by drivers (or services.)

Does the BSOD give you any information indicating what caused the crash?

Are you using ASIO or Wave Classic Drivers?

Ok i will write down the message i get on the blue screen next time it crashes.

At the moment the Audio Device type is set to Motu 324.
ill go through my settings and try and figure out some pattern .

There is a bug in the MOTU PCI324 drivers that is exposed by Vegas. MOTU is aware of this, but has not "officially" released an update.

Unofficially, you can try the PCI424 drivers offered by MOTU. The downside is the 424 Cuemix applet wont work for the PCI324 cards.
