Enhanced option for DVDA?

Someone on the Vegas forum asked (again) about a tool to enhance the dvd from within the dvd structure.

eDVD 4 can do this is and you can create direct links from your DVD menus to web sites, Hi-Definition Video, High Resolution Stills, MP3s, Flash, Documents, Presentations, Spreadsheets, Executables or virtually any other type of file.

Think it would be great if this could be done from within DVDA - if anyone else does please send your request to Sony's "Product Suggestion"

This isn't really a function of the DVD authoring program, but of the software player used on the computer. eDVD takes a prepared project and lets you associate events with chapters - the output from eDVD is basically an XML file along with the images needed for the software player.

When you put the DVD in a computer *AND* install the interactual player, then the player looks for and reads the XML content from the seperate file.

Any other player that you may have (WinDVD, WMP, etc.) don't understand (or look for) the XML control information and so nothing special happens with those players.

As the question keeps on coming back it seems more people are looking for that bridge to cross different media-worlds.

But you're right - it's a bridge towards the computer world but given it's limits it can create some interesting projects. If other players, and not just the interactual player' could understand the XML control info the sky would be the limit.
