Enhancing sound

I'm making a small music video for this band, friends with little money actually and I’m sure that sounds familiar, and yesterday I shot them, using my Sony PDX 10 with the XLR microphone that came with the camera, performing live in the club where they perform. I import the footage into Vegas, the video is very good indeed while the sound is totally inadequate. It's like the singer is in the next room. Is there anything I can do in Vegas to fix this or do I need to somehow plug my camera XLR connector into their mixer or whatever?

Many thanks.

Recording a band live is among the more demanding tasks you can take on. You would be better off tapping into their mixer. But really you ought to search the net and find out as much as you can about recording bands live.
Another approach is to use one of their recordings or tapes and have them mime to it. You will then sync up the footage to the sound from the tape and make an edit from there.

BTW, no, I don't think you can save the sound on your recording (but a sou8ndtrack like that could be used to mix with the sound from the mixer - to add room).

If you have access to an existing recording, you MIGHT be able to work with it. It won't match, but modern videos have a ton of FX - freezes, strobe shots, slowdowns - that can make this easier.
