I attach my videos camera and select various clips and place them on the time line and then add special effects etc.

When I enter video clips on timeline they also show in my documents. Is there anyway they can be prevented from showing in documents as my documents files gets a little cluttered . Using windows 7 64 bit

Actually I am using video capture in Movie Studio to get video clips then move them from Project Media to the timeline. These same clips also appear in my Documents. If I delete from my Documents they are also removed from the Project Media and Timeline automatically. I hope I am making sense as I am quite new at this and do appreciate your comments.

Look into Movie Studio video capture preferences / properties / settings, and try find a 'capture folder location' settings.

From capture screen, under options I clicked preferences then disk management and it shows capture folder as Documents. I temporally deleted this folder a capture options no longer work so put folder back in place.

Click the 'Add Folder' button to redirect your captured files to where you want them placed. You probably have to do this by by unticking your Documents folder and ticking your new preferred folder.

Do not delete the folder containing your files as this is where MS goes looking for them. They are not saved as part of your project file.

When you add videos to the timeline, Movie Studio is creating a pointer to the original file, it is not creating a new file. So if your original video is captured in your documents folder, then that is where Movie Studio is pointing. Set a new capture folder before you start adding clips and do not delete that folder until you are done with the project completely.

Can you tell me how to set up a new capture folder. I see the "new folder" but not sure what kind of folder I should set up or how......As i said I am pretty new at this. Thanks

Thank you for your prior input. I am entering a video clip with sound on timeline and want to delete the sound from the clip and overlay with other music. Can this be done within the system. ...Thank you

I reviewed the Topics you referred me to and clicking delete on an empty spot on the Timeline does delete the Audio. Also, I noticed that if I right click the Video clip in Project Media and select Add as CD track only the Audio is added to the timeline. I am using Movie Studio 14. Appreciate our help.
