Error 2147163964, can't install... Please help!

Hi all, I hope I'm posting on the right forum.
I've been a happy customer of Vegas 9 for years, and was thinking about upgrading to 13.

Trying to install the trial version though, I keep getting an error message I can't solve:
2147163964 - detailed roughly as "the cabinet file sfxpfx3.cab is corrupt.
A screenshot available here: http://imgur.com/RDNEEmc

I've looked for a solution all over the net, tried everything I found (mostly changing privileges), redownloaded the install (32 and 64 bits), all to no avail.

If anyone has any idea how I can fix this, I would be very grateful...

Thanks a lot in advance.

PS: In case it helps, my system is Windows 8.1 (64b) on a Core i7 4790 CPU / Samsung 512Go SSD / 8Gigs of RAM.

After you done a uninstall have you removed all folders manually and cleared the registry?

I did clean the registry, but do you mean I should uninstall Vegas 9 before installing the v13 trial?
I would be very scared that it still doesn't work and I can't re-install v9: I use it every day for work, and losing access to it would be devastating...

Has no one encountered this issue? I can't believe I just can't install the software and that's it... :/

I haven't seen this before, but I assume that you downloaded the trial? If so, I would suggest re-downloading the file and trying to re-install it.

Unfortunately I have tried that as well, and it didn't work... I guess I'll pass on v13 for now; thanks for answering though!

Hello, I had tried the procedures with the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables that support (from Magix) recomends) and it didn't work. What worked (the problem is solved) was to install first the "Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0" (that I also possessed, buta trial copy could do) and when installing it aksed for a Windows component (I think it was Framework 3.5) to install the Platinum 11. Windows downloaded and installed the Framework. The installing was fine and after I installed the Movie Studio Platinum 13.0 (64-bit) with no problem. I hope my feedback can help.

Yes, the NET that comes with the software must be installed, even though other versions reside on your system. I'm surprised you weren't prompted to do so when you installed the trial, if NET 3.5 was missing or corrupt.
