Since Windows XP has not yet been released, our programs have not been tested and updated yet. I will post more news about Windows XP support as it becomes available.

CG,
Of all the SF programs that I have attempted to install into XP ( Vegas Video2.0g, SF5.0b, ACID 3.0, Batch Converter 5.0, & the Video Capture Tool ) only
the Video Capture Tool has been a problem thus far.
Whenever I attempt to install the Video Capture Tool
into XP I get an error message asking that I install
"DirectX 8.0 or later" before install process can begin. The odd thing is XP already has the latest DX 8.1 already integrated into the OS. Otherwise, the rest
of the apps have all installed without incident. So far, on an operational level, I have not seen a difference between running the apps in ME or in XP.
I am using a Delta 66 with the latest multi-client WDM
drivers as well in XP with no problems. Although, SF apps are not officially WDM compliant, I have been able
to playback 16bit and 24bit wave files. But, I find you
can only cleanly record at 16bit. At 24bit, there is a
noticeable hiss once you attempt to playback a wave file that was recorded at 24bit with a SF app. So I
just do my 24bit recording in SONAR and import those
wave files into my SF apps for editing and mixing.
What version of XP are you using? I am using the (RC1)
version that was released last month. If you do a clean
install of XP(RC1)to a newly created FAT32 partition, you should have no instability problems. Whatever existing OS you are using now (Win98,WinME,W2K) I would install XP to a separate FAT32 parition. XP will create the dual boot for you during the install process. Make sure you set up XP in "Standard PC" mode
when prompted during the install process. If not, it will default to "APCI" mode, which will cause you problems when you need to assign IRQ's for your hardware.

After doing some additional testing on XP, I found
that I can indeed record at my preferred audio format
of 44.1k/24bit in Vegas Video 2.0g, SF5.0b and ACID 3.0b. I had based my previous post concerning SF apps
inability to record at 24bit with WDM drivers on my prior experience with a Delta beta WDM driver with
WinME last April. Since then of course, Delta in June
released their latest WDM driver(5.12.1.20). That driver with WinXP will now record at 24bit. I am of
course, very happy to have found this out. So for anybody else out there with a Delta and the latest
W2K WDM driver, you can record successfully at 24bit if
you so desire in XP. Unlike a lot of digital audio software companies out there, it seems most SF apps
are already XP ready :)
