Error installing VF1 on Windows XP - STILL NO GO

Hi. After upgrading to XP I can't install Video Factory 1.0. I get this error message:

"An error ocurred while applying security settings. Users is not a valid user or a group. This could be a problem with the package, or a problem connecting to a domain controller on the network. Check yout network connection ..."

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you logged on with an account that doesn't have administrator priviliges. As a security feature XP only allows those with administrative rights to install software.

I'm using home edition. Administrator by default. --ugel

Is there noone who has experienced anything similar? I get no response from Sonic Foundry regarding this question so I'm kinda frustrated.

VF2 supports Windows XP. VF1 does not (it was released before XP was in beta), and you'll notice in the docs that 98SE, ME, and 2k are the supported VF1 OSs.

It is highly unlikely that we will rev VF1 to be XP compatible, sorry.

This is very disappointing.
