I don't know if this is the right forum to post this so if anyone knows where to post can you let me know.

I get an error message on startup although the program runs, the message is this:

An error accurred when trying to run "c:\proga~1\sony\vegas5!1.0\vegas 50k.dll,_SfPlugIn_Grovel @ 16 501 Sonic_foundry_Grovel Event"

I re installed the Vegas 50k.dll but no joy.

Do a search for "Grovel". Big discussion a few weeks back.

i've read up on other posts and as far as i can see it's due to other programs installed, i've uninstalled realplayer as that was the only program i have that others were saying was a conflict with but i still get the error message.

Hey B JM,

Yea I uninstalled that ace mega codec pack and all's well, I made a quick 1 minute video using my canon elura 50 and have added that clip to the timeline no problem, now all i have to do is understand what the hell i'm doing ;-) .

You know what's weird?
I was getting the exact same error but I didnt have Acme Mega Pack installed.
So, after reading your message, I figured I would install it, and then uninstall it to see if it fixed the problem.
Well, as soon as I installed the Mega Pack, the error went away in Vegas!
After uninstalling the Mega Pack, the error still didnt come back until I installed Divx or Xvid on my computer. So, then I reinstalled the Mega pack and the Vegas error went away again.
There is definately something screwy with the relationship between Vegas and certain codecs.
Anyway, I'm glad you posted about the Mega Pack, because now I dont have that Vegas Grovel Error anymore (I installed Divx, and Xvid, then installed Mega, and removed Mega)
