I get this message EVERY time I click "Make DVD" on my current project. It crashes the entire program. What does this mean? How can I fix it?

If you start with a new empty project, does the crash still occur?

Also, can you tell us the version number of sfcdi.dll that you have installed? In Windows Explorer, go to \Program Files\Sonic Foundry\DVD Architect 1.0, right-click on sfcdi.dll and choose properties. What is the "File Version" on the Version tab?

Thanks for replying...

Yes, it does crash when I start a new Menu. This error only started occuring a day or so ago, and I can't think of any major changes to my system (WinXP) that would suddenly cause it.

Here's the version number of sfcdi.dll: 2.0.0.502
goo wrote on 4/7/2003, 11:26 AM
An update: I applied the 1.0b patch, and now the sfcdi.dll version is 2.0.0.547.

Still the same problems; fatal crash on *any* "Make DVD" selection.

Can you please verify that the following steps that reproduce the crash on your system?
1. File | Make DVD...
2. Click on one of the "Prepare DVD", "Burn", or "Prepare DVD and Burn" buttons.

Also, can you please post the crash dump from 1.0b? Thanks.

Does your user account have administrative privileges? If not, please try with a user account that does and see if the problem persists.
goo wrote on 4/7/2003, 1:54 PM
I am using an administrative account, and have been since I installed DVDA.

The following steps reproduce the crash:
1. File | Make DVD

That's it. The crash occurs before the Prepare/Burn Dialog even pops up.

Here's a copy of the latest dump:

Please try the following:

1. Options | Preferences...
2. Click "Skip drive database; autodetect drive capabilities" (BTW, was it enabled or disabled?)
3. Click Ok
4. Close and restart DVD Architect
goo wrote on 4/7/2003, 3:42 PM
Okay, I tried that--no luck. The box was un-checked when I opened the preferences dialog; I checked it an restarted... still crashes on "Make DVD."

Thanks again for helping out :)

What USB, IEEE 1394, and SCSI devices do you have on your system? Have you made any changes recently to your hardware or device drivers?
goo wrote on 4/8/2003, 12:03 PM
I have no IEE1394 or SCSI devices. I have a Sony digital camera (DSCP50) attached to a USB port, and a Wacom Graphire tablet, and a Logitech optical mouse.

No driver/system changes recently, with the exception of some security fixes for Windows XP.
SonySDB wrote on 4/8/2003, 12:10 PM
Can you try disconnecting your Sony digital camera and Wacom Graphire tablet and see if that makes a difference? What DVD burner do you have? Or doesn't this machine have a DVD burner?

Also, can you search your drive(s) for all instances of sfcdi.dll and tell us where it is found? Thanks.
goo wrote on 4/8/2003, 12:28 PM
I disconnected the camera and tablet, restarted--still no luck. Only one copy of sfcdi.dll is found, and it's in C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\DVD Architect 1.0
goo wrote on 4/8/2003, 12:37 PM
Forgot to mention... there is no DVD burner on this system. I'm planning on transferring the files to a different pc later.

goo, I sent you an email offline.
