error message when writing a disc

Can't find an answer to this question, so I'll post it here. For the past couple of days, I've been trying to write audio to a cd in VV 3.0 Build 76, it writes the lead-in properly, but when it comes to writing the audio to the disc, it gets about 6% in, and then this error message comes up:

"an error occured reading data from a file on the system. Make sure that you have access to all data files needed to write this disc."

I've tried multiple files and I get the same results. Unfortunately, this error message comes up after it has written some audio to the CDR, so the disc then becomes a coaster. When I do test runs, everything works fine, it's just when I do an actual 'write' that it screws up and gives me this error message. I am using Windows XP, along with a HP Cd Writer 9100i

Help!! I don't want to waste any more discs.
