"Error occurred during operation" selecting MP4

Jeffo wrote on 8/17/2015, 10:27 AM
Been using Vegas Studio Platinum 9 for years with no problems.

Today I copied two 2-minute MP4 videos off my new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge phone that replaced my older Galaxy S4, and they play easily on my PC using Windows Media Player.

But once I am inside Vegas Movie Studio, I select the Explorer tab to navigate to my 2 videos on my PC for this project.

As soon as I click on either of these 2 videos to drag them onto my timeline or even just to see it in the preview viewer, it trips the following error dialog, and it provides details which I pasted below. Once you click ok, Vegas studio crashes and closes.

I am able to click on and view all other previous videos from my Galaxy S4 phone, but don't know why this would give me an error on these 2 newer files. They are all MP4 video files.

Anyone got any ideas? Here is the rror dialog I get.

"An Error Occurred During the operation"
"An Exception has occurred"

*****SOLVED!*******

Well, I solved the problem myself, simply by upgrading to the latest version 13 of Sony Vegas Studio for $50.

I guess my old 2008 version 9 was not up to handling all the newer smartphone files,

But this newer 2014 version of Studio 13 was more than ready to handle it and I was up and running in no time. This case is solved!

Kirk out!

Version 9 was Sony's first real attempt at handling this stuff; it failed on several fronts.
