Error on 8.0c 'Make Movie' w/ Mainconcept

I just upgraded last night from 6.0b to 8.0c.

I have used 6.0b for a few years without any issues.

When I attempt to load an existing project and render to mpeg2 I get the following error message:

THE REQUESTED PLUG-IN DOES NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY FEATURES UNLOCKED

I am simply selecting MAKE MOVIE, SAVE TO A FILE, and then select MAIN CONCEPT MPG2 and DVD NTSC as the template.

6.0b still renders just fine (thankfully!!)

I tried a WMV render and it worked ok. I can only guess but it appears to be related to a new version of Mainconcept MPG2 that was included in 8.0c. I am not aware of any third party plugin's on my setup.

I utilized the $25 upgrade and have applied the new serial number that was sent via email. I have also initialized the DVD Architect thinking that maybe it did some extra step that was required.

I run XP on a four year old Dell 8400 w/ 1 gig memory. Nothing fancy on the projects, 10 minutes or less with DV camcorder clips.

I also performed an online registration for both products and that didn't solve anything. Rebooting did not help.

I have an online ticket with no response yet so I thought I would ask here as well.

Any ideas? Searching for this error on this forum, the Sony knowledge base, and google in general didn't help.

Re-install the new version.

Thanks for the reply.

An uninstall/reinstall didn't help, unfortunately.

But I noticed a version 4 of Vegas plus it's version of Architect so I uninstalled them as well as version 8 again. I also closed other misc stuff from the system tray (Kodak easyshare, avg antivirus, & cybersitter) and did another version 8 install.

It worked! Not sure what the true culprit was.
