Error opening .avi files

I cannot open any .avi files in vegas 3.0c. I receive this error, "An error occurred opening the media file.
D:\Video\(Unknown) - Clip 001.avi"
The clip plays on media player and reports it is codec Indeo video 5.10.

The real kicker here is that I captured the clip with video capture 3.

I began having this problem when I updated to 3.0c from 3.0a. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3.0a with the same result.

I noticed the problem when I tried to open the tutorial files and received errors on all the .avi media...

HELP!

The indeo codec inside Vegas has not been touched in a long time so if it worked once, it should still work. As far as a solution goes, can you try capturing to another format?

For future work I could try to capture differently, but this does not help with all the projects that currently have .avi in the media files. Could it be a problem with VV3 and XP Pro?

So, these .avi files are ALL REALLY Indeo 5.1?
Have you tried reinstalling the Indeo codec?
Probably won't help, but can't hurt.

As a simple test, do the AVI files play in Media Player. If not, then you have a basic codec problem (as suggested in an earler post)
