Error opening Codec?

I just got a new computer and downloaded movie studio and I tried to edit a video that I could always edit on my old computer and movie studio had a error saying Error while opening codec???? It is a Avi file. Please help I am really hope something didn't happen.

What model of camcorder is this video coming from?

It could be an AVC/AVI or a MJPEG/AVI or even a Divx/AVI, all of which can be challenging for Movie Studio to work with.

Open this AVI in G Spot or MediaInfo and post the resolution, frame rate and audio and video codecs listed to this forum and we'll be able to offer suggestions for how to proceed.

Let's see what model of camcorder the original poster is using.

Meantime, you may want to open your video in MediaInfo ( a free download) and learn what frame rate and audio and video codecs it is using.
