In Vegas 5.0, build 194,

When i attempt to open an MPEG file, i get the following error:

Warning: An error occured while opening one or more files.

The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized.
-------------------------------------------

I have went to File--Render As and followed the directions to register the MPEG.

Any more suggestions on what is causing the error?
