Error setting up Vegas.

I had already downloaded a trial of Vegas, but accidently unistalled it, then when I went back to try it again, it came up with an error!

"The windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are running in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed..."

I like this program a lot and would like to use it more!
I have Windows XP, 800mhz p3, 256mb ram, Rage 128 Pro ATI card, 30gb fujitsu-siemens hard-drive..

I think I fixed it, but now, when I try to install it, it just gives me repair/uninstall options. Obviously I click repair, but nothing happens! Then why I try to uninstall it, it comes up with an "Error 1316" Network error. I'm not even on a network!
