Hit the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys at the same time. Click "Task Manager". Click the "Performance" tab. Your "mem usage" meter should be around 2/3 bright gree bars. Also, check out the "precesses" tab. It lists how much memory is used by each program. I get the same message, but usually have Vegas, Photoshop, and many IE and/or Netscape windows open at the same time.

300 Mb ram are free anda pagefile.sys is 210120/1668308, 1458188 are free and other programs run perfectly!
Vegas don't run. same problem!

Do you scan for viruses on your computer? Maybe you have a bug eating up memory... it's a shot in the dark though. I'd say try reformatting, but that would be a pain if it didn't work.

I too get this error but not when I start up Vegas.
I can do many things but often, when I try to save a media file, I get this error.
Here's one way to repro the error:
reboot computer (running WinXP Pro with all patches and SP applied)
start Vegas 4.0c
load ONE 534MB DV clip in the trimmer
start setting regions
hit the Save Region toolbar button
VOILLA. Low on memory message.
Note that according to TASKMAN vegas' address space is 62MB. It's mem usage is 16MB
My machine has 256MB memory and 950MB swap.
Taskman says I have 325MB commit charge with a limit of 1.2GB. Lots of room!

I've also seen this error repeatedly when running non-RT effects plugins on audio and trying to save the audio to disk.

Hope you folks can help!
