Error trying to burn a DVD

When I try to burn a DVD, I get an error saying the dive was reset due to another program or a SCSI/IDE configuration error. I have a brand new DVD-R drive and am not running any other program.
The error details say 'the drive state has changed. A power-on reset or bus-reset has occurred.'

There is a setting in Preferences to auto-detect your drive. Try it both checked and unchecked, but close and reopen Architect each time you make a change.

I tried that, but got the same error. When I tried to burn it in Vegas Movie Studio I got an 'unknown error (80004005H)

What version of DVD Architect?
What burner? Latest firmware?
System specs?
