Error trying to reinstall

Aggg!

I've performed an OS reinstall and am reinstalling everything from scratch. When I try to reinstall Vegas 6 I get as far as Media Manager and then I get an error with Microsoft SQL desktop engine. I seem to remember having this problem once before but I don't remember what caused it, or how I resolved it. Anyone familiar with it? I'm desperate to get this done ASAP. I'm finishing a montage for a memorial tomorrow morning and have had a heap of system problems. Ugggg.

I'm on XP w/ SP2, although as I write this it just finished auto-updating and has prompted a re-boot. I wonder if it needed updating? I'll check back if it still fails. Thanks everyone as always.

I came back to check and found myself already at #15 on the list of threads. I've managed to get get Vegas up and running (and so far, stable) but it flat out isn't happy about media manager and won't open it. I can live without media manager for now but it is still a wierd situation. Soon I'll have to cross my fingers and reinstall DVDA. My palms are already sweating.

Could it be something with administrator rights?

Maybe you could try and make a search on the Microsoft site too - it might be a common sql engine problem.
