Error When Loading Vegas

Dwuane wrote on 7/4/2004, 10:09 AM
I just installed the Veggie Toolkit(which is awesome), and everytime I start Vegas 5, I get an "error occurred loading Vegas. Everything seems to work
okay, but it still gives me that error on start up. Any ideas? Anyone else
having the same problem? I havn't upgraded to the newer 5b, because of the problems it was having with NEON and Excalibur. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Excalibur never had a problem with 5.0b and Neon has been fixed.

Did you turn off Terminal Services? That's the symptom that occurs when Terminal Services is turned off. Error on startup but then runs fine afterwards.

I was gonna say you probably have terminal services turned off or disabled. Vegas needs this
With XP go to
-control panel
- performance and maintenance
-administraive services
-then click on the services icon
scroll down to terminal services
double click it to open up the properties
in start up type set to Manual
Restart your computer
Your error message should be gone

It already was on manual, but I changed it and then changed it back and hit apply. Now it works fine. Thanks so much for your help. It really is
appreciated.

seems strange to me that a Vegas would need this. I turned it off because it was ONE MORE hole that viruses and such could get into my machine. The other pertof this error is that Vegas does not seem to save preferences (like toolbar settings and such)

Terminal services is used for fast user switching. If you don't need this feature in WinXP, then go ahead and disable it. You can ignore the error message that Vegas displays.
