Give us more info. How many Megapixel images do you have on it?

well, i'm unsure what you mean by "megapixel", but it's about a 4min video of wmv format. there's probably a few hundred small clips edited together. and everything i try to render, it does 1% to 7%, then says "unspecifed error" or "exception has occured".
i hope that's enought info...

If you use still images, make sure they are under 2048x2048 pixels in size. This is a well documented bug in Vegas.
If needed, you can do a batch resize of all your images using Irfanview (free).

well i don't use images. i use actual video (wmv format) for all my vids. so it can't be that problem...

Make sure you have updated to the latest version of VMS 8, free update. If it still occurs, make sure you export in a resolution that divides exactly by 16. Also, start removing plugins at the point where it crashes, to eliminate external factors.

If you still can't manage it to render, file a bug report with Sony via their online mail form.
