Yes, Vegas does have this. Place the events on the timeline, overlapping them by the amount of time you want the transition to last. Click on the Transitions tab at the bottom of the window and choose Page Peel. Pick the peel you like best and drag it onto the overlap between the events.

You can tweek all sorts of things, such as the direction of the peel, how transparent the peeled layer is, the color of the back of the peel, etc. There are also many other transition styles as well.
