Event FX

I upgraded to Vegas 7 and this is the first time I'm trying to apply an Event FX and it doesn't work. I've never had this problem in V4. None of the FX work. Help!
Also, I don't know what I did, but all of a sudden part of my video track turned pink. What does that mean and how do I fix that to go back to normal color?

#1 - No FX: I've turned turned ON Fx Bypass on the Preview Toolbar.

#2 - "Pink" signals I've got my Video and Audio outta synch.
( eh? or do you actually mean you've got a PINK Preview? )

The pink is on the timeline. Then somehow the video and audio must be off. Is there a way of fixing that?

When I R-click on the FX button above the preview window all of the choices (such as Bypass) are grayed out, so bypass can't be on. I can not apply any FX at all.

I fixed the "pink" out of sync problem. Thanks. I still can't figure out why my FX won't work. So I still need help with that.

Try the button immediately to the right of the FX chain button over the preview window.

Yes. It was the Split Screen button that was causing the problem. I must have had that turned off when I used Vegas 4. Thanks so much.
