Event Level 3D... possible?

[r]Evolution wrote on 5/15/2009, 10:23 AM
I know I can add Drop Shadow & 3D to the Track... but I don't want/need the entire track to have a Drop or be 3D... just some events. I've grown used to the way some other NLE's have a Perspective/Drop Shadow & 3D FX Plugins that you can apply to any Video Event on your timeline.

I've been using Boris RED to achieve this at the Event level but I would like a bit simpler & easier to interface w/ Vegas.

Know of any other Plugin that would work to give Drop Shadow control at the Event Level?

You need the plugin pack adapter and the EVENT 3d effect from debugmode..... which can't be downloaded anymore. If you want me to email it to you then let me know.

Sony probably figured it's not necessary because:

a) track effects can be keyframed and therefore can have different behaviors in each event
b) you have unlimited tracks, so if you really wanted to, you could put each event on it's own track
c) if you really wanted to go crazy, you could put each 3D event in it's own .veg file and set track level 3D there, then nest each .veg as it's own event in the parent project

So there's three ways already in Vegas to effectively get 3D per event.

As soon as I reTime my Edit or move my Media on the timeline, my 3D KeyFrames are all wacky.

b) you have unlimited tracks, so if you really wanted to, you could put each event on it's own track
I definitely don't want to edit a 150 Track project.

c) if you really wanted to go crazy, you could put each 3D event in it's own .veg file and set track level 3D there, then nest each .veg as it's own event in the parent project
Without being able to 'Nest' my timelines in a single .VEG this would be a nightmare to manage.

So, you have the DebugMode apps working w/ VP9?
If so, and for FREE, I definitely want it!

Oh, i didn't say any of those three ways were as good as having it really be at the event level. I didn't even claim they were good at all. But they are there, and that could be the reason that Sony hasn't developed them at the event level.

Note: PluginPac can still be found at:

If I want Event Level stuff? - Nested Veg. So much more manageable, controllable and it IS what the Right Button on the mice is for! Seriously, I just right click get the Edit veg command up pops the 3-D Veg > Edit> Save and back in the main proj. DONE!

Grazie

Actually for saving on render times with 3D Compositing involved this is a very good suggestion. I always tell people ( and also do it myself ) to ***NEST 3D COMPOSITES*** or Vegas will have to calculate each 3D Plane for the entire project whether there is footage there or not.

This is another good reason for NOT having to set the Entire Track to 3D.

The link from above IS still there.
You have to look at the last line which says:
If you have old Vegas Video projects using PluginPac and you really need that plugin, click here.
~ but every time I download it I get an error saying the Archive is damaged. (what a dirty trick)

That's what I said... you can't download it anymore. The "archive" has been damaged now for at least 2 or 3 years.

blink3times - Thank You for the pluginpac!

Why o Why did Satish stop offering this awesome pluginpac?
I remember it from years ago. I'm surprised to see that it works like a charm in VP9. It's so simple as compared to his replacement for it... WAX.
Yeah

Now I'm off to search for something as simple that will give me Drop Shadow at the Even Level.

Once again... Thanks blink3times for this hookup.

For the life of me I can't figure that out either. GREAT little pac! You'll also find the plugin pac adapter there which will allow you to use various third party vdub and MSU effects. I for example love to use MSU's cartooner effect which can't be done without the adapter. There's 3d shatter which I get a kick out of too.
