Event Snap Offset

Can anybody explain why you would want to adjust the event snap offset? I saw a reference to it an another post, looked it up in the help file, but can't seem to understand why one would want to do it. In other words, how does it help?

Say you have 10 clips on the timeline, you have "trimmed" them while on the timeline to desired length. You want to have a 20 frame crossfade between each clip. Set the snap offset to 20 and drag the clip,it snaps in place at 20 and your pace is even.
I have no idea if that is what it is intended for, but it works for me.

Check out the Overlap Wizard in Neon. You can set the default duration to anything you like and overlap clips with one keystroke.
