Here is one way (maybe not the best)

1)Put each event on a different track.
2)zoom in to start of clip and align
3)zoom in to end of clip and align.
4)move clips to where you want them.

By zooming in really close, you can align clips quite acurately.

Thanks for the idea.

I was hoping there would be somewhere in the event properties to set the length in seconds/frames.

Tim: what version of VideoFactory are you using? I've got 2.0c and can't find a media length window. I found a place under media properties where it tells how long the clip is, but no place where i can type in a new value.

However, if you do have such a place, when you change that value a little triangular wedge mark should appear on the top edge of the clip at that position. You can then drag the right end back to that wedge and the length will "snap" to that position.

Following miketree's advice, if you want to get more precise control without even mucking about with zooming, drag the first clip to the timeline, trim to the length you want, and position the cursor to the beginning of it (use Ctrl-Alt-arrow keys to jump to the beginning position). Load the second clip onto the other video track and allow it to snap to the cursor position. Use Ctrl-Alt-right arrow to move the cursor to the end of the first clip. Trim the second clip by dragging the end back until it snaps to the cursor. The one problem with this is that it assumes you want the clips to start at the beginning. If you want to start somewhere within the clip, simply trim to the starting position first, then align that starting position to the cursor.

I have version 2.0c build 125. It has Media Length when you click on the properties. It is in the upper right of the screen. It does not seem to do what I want. I cannot really tell what it does.

What I am trying to do is make a kids video that spells out certain words and each letter fills the screen. I want each letter to be the same amount of time.

There has to be a way to do this easily ;-)

Here's one other suggestion ... you could have each letter be exactly one second long, or two seconds, or whatever whole number of seconds is close. This way you can make use of the snapping feature on the timeline to make them all the same when you place them (the mouse snaps to the dividing lines on the timeline; how those lines are spaced depends on the current zoom level). Then once all the letters are there, select them all and Group them. You can then Ctrl-drag the end of the last letter left or right to shorten or lengthen all of them together. They'll all shrink/grow proportionately so they will all still be the same length as each other.
