EX1 and Vegas

FrigidNDEditing wrote on 9/17/2007, 3:45 PM
Has anyone seen whether Vegas can directly access the files on the SxS cards? (anyone on the other side of the pond out there that can tell us?). From what I've read it sounds like the files on the SxS cards is wrapped in a .mp4 wrapper and has to be processed to get .mxf files out of it. Can anyone say for certain if we'll need to convert to use the files in Vegas or if it will be able to operate directly within Vegas w/o the conversion.

Thanks for any input from anyone that may know.

Dave

Vegas sees it pretty much the same as XDCAM HD. You don't need to convert anything.
After the announcement tomorrow, perhaps more can be said.

Announcement??
What announcement, that's like throwing a chicken into the lions den. Or dangling a pig over the crocodile pond.

Sony USA is announcing (officially) the as-yet-unofficially announced XDCAM EX tomorrow morning at 550 Madison.

Bob: "Announcement?? What announcement..."

Its even better than Spot reveals...

Sony will announce that beginning tomorrow, everyone who orders the packaged upgrade to Vegas 8 will receive a free XDCam EX. Note: You can't get the camera from the download only option -- have to get the packaged version.

That's why I've held off on upgrading so far -- waiting for a really sweet deal like this.

umm... or at least that's the rumor I started... :-)

Sony is taking a cue from Gillette razors and ink-jet printer manufacturers, Sony will give you an EX1 free of charge, however, the two required SxS cards are $4,000 each.

Still no news???

Other than Vegas being shown to access the XDCAM EX info just as it does with other XDCAM devices....not sure what you're wanting.
I thought release of footage would take place today, however.

Press release from today, but nothing new? Confirms expectation of November release, < $8000.

Guess I misunderstood your post. I thought there was some kind of informative update being made available.
