I'm going to be taping a speaking session in a few days, and my primary cameras will be one Sony V1U and an EX1. I'm very familiar with the V1U, which has been my primary camera for a couple years now. I'm borrowing a friend's EX1. I've read over the manual I downloaded, and a lot is similar, and much of what isn't, I won't be using just for this one recording. I'll be picking it up tonight so I have a few days to play around with it.
But just so I'm clear:
1. I can load the footage directly from the EX1 via USB onto my hard drive?
2. There's nothing in the manual about using software or what to do once the footage is on my hard drive. Do I need to download the XDCAM EX Clip Browser software (and if so, I believe it's free and does anyone have a link)?
3. Is there anything tricky about getting it into Vegas?
4. Will there be any problem if I record in 1920 x 1080 but load it into a 1440 x 1080 timeline and render at 1440 x 1080?
Thanks for any help you can give. If there's a link to a site to answer all these questions, that'd be great, too.
