EX3 Time Lapse Error

jeffagwm wrote on 1/29/2009, 8:14 PM
I just recently purchased a Sony EX3. The images are superb and am able to get full frame rate 29.97 playback at Best Full on the time line in Vegas 8.0c on my laptop.

I am playing around with the camera and just tried the interval recording function. The recorded clip plays back fine both in the camera and in the Sony Clip Browser software but it will not export as an mxf file from the clip browser. I just get an error message saying "Conversion Error Occurred. Conversion Aborted." followed by "Condition Failure- assertion failure: achievable padded length"

Does anyone have any idea what this means? Am I doing something wrong or is this a problem? I am using a DELL XPS M1530 with Vista Ultimate (32bit) and 4 Gb RAM

Thanks

Jeff

Did you download the latest version of the Clip browser?

I can't vouch for it rewrapping that kind of footage correctly as I use a different app for handling that kind of material but if you've got the latest Clipbrowser and are still having issues I'll try it for you and then we can verify it isn't a machine problem. Highly unlikely it is anyway but best to be certain before raising alarms elsewhere.

Bob,

Thanks for the reply. I purchased the camera at the end of Dec and I am currently using Clip Browser version 1.01.07.1567 that shipped with the camera. I will download the latest version from the SOny XDCam EX site and see if that makes a difference. Is theree any other way of getting files from the EX3 into Vegas? Clips recorded at normal frame rate export and play fine in Vegas it is only the time lapse clips that seem to have a problem. I tried just dragging the mp4 file directly into the vegas project media window but it wouldn't play either.

Sorry, no.
As you've seen mp4 onto the T/L is a no show. Hope this gets addressed soon.

Bob.
[EDIT]
Just to be sure I just shot some EX1 TL. Clipbrowser V2.00.00.438 exported it just fine. Opens in V8.0b no problem either. That's not quite the very latest version of the Clipbrowser.
Don't loose the old version on the CD, it is much faster than the latest one.

Bob,

It seems to be a problem with the earlier version of the clip browser. I downloaded Clip Browser 2.0 and the files now will convert to mxf and are able to be placed in Vegas no problem. Thanks for your help.
