Excalibur 3 question

StormMarc wrote on 9/4/2004, 4:16 PM
Before my question I have to say that I never thought multi-camera editing could be so easy. This program is truly amazing and brings Vegas to a whole new level. I was dreading editing a 12-camera shoot I have been putting off and this will make it a piece of cake. And having the ability to have all rejected shots as takes makes it extremely flexable. Great job guys!

My question:

When setting a dissolve marker where will the dissolve start? Can it be adjusted so that it begins or ends at the marker point?

Thanks,

Marc

Dissolves will be CENTERED on the marker. Half before the marker, half after the marker. This cannot currently be adjusted.

Got it, thanks. I'd like to add this feature to the wish list :)

Yup,

For those of you who do multi-camera shoots this baby does things that a 500 piece of software does. Truely a must-have.

I'm soo confused by how Excalibur is supposed to work. I'm doing a musical performance video synced to music from the CD. Yes, it's perfectly synced as they played to the exact track coming through the PA that I am using on my timeline.

* 3 cameras on 3 video tracks named 'Camera 1', 'Camera 2', & 'Camera 3'
* 1 Audio track named 'Audio 1'
* I selected/highlighted all of my Video tracks.

I played the timeline hitting 'M' to place markers on certain beats. When I ran Excalibur it splitted all the video tracks where I had markers but it gave me a blank 'Master' video track. This happens everytime. I feel that I must be doing something wrong since I hear all of you ranting about it. (or is this what it's supposed to do?) Do I then take the cuts and move the sections up to the 'Master' track?

I'm still using the DEMO version and I only have like 4 more times to use it before it times out. I would like to at least see it's results on one of my projects before I purchase it. Tim Duncan did an awesome job with the Sheryl Crow vid, VEGAS, & Excalibur, so I know it's pretty bad @$$.

confused...

As the manual states, Excalibur uses the FIRST character of the track name, so essentially all your tracks are named "C".

Change them to 1, 2, and 3, and you should be good to go.

Lamont,

Take a look here and see if this removes your confusion.

Confusion Removed.

I successfully did a 3 Camera Multi-Cam edit today using Excalibur. Seeing it in the .wmv you directed me to allowed me to notice where I was making my mistake.
1st mistake: Trying to listen to a buddy explain how to use the Multi-Cam wiz.
2nd mistake: I wasn't naming my audio tracks so I was getting an error but my edits weren't being routed up and onto the Master track.

It made really nice edits for me then I went back in and smoothed out/ tightened up my transitions.

You just made a believer out of me.

Thank You!
