Excalibur 4.5 Update Released

A new version of Excalibur is now available. You can find complete details by going to http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur. Excalibur 4.5 adds a few new features and bug-fixes. This version also has the updated DLL change built-in allowing live edits in Vegas 6.0b. PAL users will be happy to see tallys now designed specifically for you.

This update is FREE to all Excalibur 4.x users but does require a new registration key. You should receive an e-mail with an updated key over the next few days. For more immediate assistance, please e-mail Edward Troxel your name and current registration key to editdv at jetdv DOT com and I will send you a new key for this version. For new purchases, use the demo mode and check back in a few days at http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur.

You also need to UNINSTALL version 4.x before installing version 4.5. The directory structure was changed to simplify picking the various standalone scripts on the Keyboard tab in the Preferences. This will make it easier to assign keypresses which can subsequently be assigned to devices like the Shuttle Pro.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask at http://www.jetdv.com or e-mail me directly.

Version 4.5 also marks some changes in sales, tech support and development for the product. Gary has chosen to concentrate on his instructional videos for Vegas and DVD Architect. I wish to thank Gary Kleiner for all of his ideas and efforts in the development of Excalibur.

Gary does have a training DVD he and I taped at NAB on Excalibur 4.0 in addition to his other fine products. Contact Gary directly for more information at http://www.vegastrainingandtools.com.

You mean Edward and Gary? I agree..

not to nit pick - it's a great product, but it shouldn't say live camera switching because that's not what it does, it on the fly camera switching. Live camera switching sounds like a live camera switcher, not an editor.

Hm, I used to buy Excalibur/Gary/Edward/Vegas Training and Tools stuff at http://www.douglasspottedeagle.com but it seems to be down, wonder what happened there.

Dave, you are correct in that it will not mix an event live (i.e. multiple camers coming directly into a computer being mixed WHILE an event is happening). However, while editing it will allow you to create your mix without stopping playback of the timeline thereby giving you a "live-time" mix.

that I understood, it's not a big deal - I just do live stuff too, and so I wanted to point out that it sounded funny.

Ray,

Sounds absurd, doesn't it?

KInd of like a public announcement of a long-term partnership termination - under such disturbing circumstances - shyly appended to a new product release, using 'cheerleading' settlement lingo...
