Exception 0xC0000005 on playing of clip

jamjamdave wrote on 4/13/2003, 3:02 AM
Hi

I'm running Sonic Foundry Vegas Video Version 3.0c (Build 138). For some reason when I play a clip in the trimmer or in the main project area Vegas errors immediately with "An Error occurred in the current operation. An Exception has occurred."

It then gives me the stack trace below. I haven't used Vegas in a few weeks, it never did this before. I have installed some software since then... Please Help!

Try going into Windows Explorer. Copy your project and rename it. Now try and open this copy and see if you get the same errors. I don't know what the errors mean - I've had others - but give it go! It might work it might not. Sometimes projects go awry for all sorts of reasons. If it works, great, move on . . . and don't look back!

Hi Grazie

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, your suggestion didn't help. This error occurs with old and new projects. I.E. If I start a new project and insert a clip, as soon as I hit the Play icon the error occurs. I even get the error if I create a new project and hit Play before I've inserted any clips at all...

Any other ideas?

thanks
Dave

I've found out a little more info:

All new and previous projects get this error - and copying and renaming them doesn't help. I have, however, found one project where I don't get this error. This is a project where I have deleted all the associated Media pool files (clips). When I open this project, VV tells me it can't find the files and then asks what it should do. I select the last option (Ignore all missing files) and the project opens - without the media files but with transitions etc. Now, when I insert a new clip, it plays the clip, no problem. The clips play in the trimmer too... Strange... I guess I could delete all transitions etc and then save this project as the default perhaps?

My old projects don't matter at the moment, I just want to be able to make new ones!

anyone have any idea what's going on?

thanks
dave

Sorry JJD - Been out all day Sunday. It's now 9:00pm and I'm going to bed - at least flop out in front of the TV for a bit!

Speak soon.

It's been a lovely day in the English countryside today - beer and BBQ!
