Exception Error - Need Help Please...

ecommDoc wrote on 10/15/2002, 12:38 AM
I am working on a project with many tracks. It has worked fine up until today. I have been able to reproduce this problem. Here is what is happening. When I open the project, it shows tracks 1 through 12. I can scroll across from one end of the track to the other (approx 17 minutes). I can also scroll up and down without a problem. The error occurs when I do either of the following. If I scroll over to about 10:15 on the time line, then scroll down, when track 22 shows on the screen it locks up. If I scroll down to track 22, and scroll across, when I hit around 10:15 again it locks up. If I am previewing the video, and scroll at that time, the error comes up, but the project does continue to play. The only way out is Ctrl Alt Del. Clicking Ok repeatedly gives the same message. Any help would be appreciated. Deleting track 22 does solve the problem. I have tried to select the first item on track 22, select all to end, then drag all the items to a new track, it locks up when I try an move them. I have tried duplicating the track, then deleting the old track, no help. Here is the details the error showed:

Hi Steve,

You might try turning-off hardware accelleration in your computer's display settings. It *may* help.

If not, please post your system specs and setup, any other video/graphics apps you have installed, project specs; and we'll go from there.

You might want to update your version of Vegas as well. We are up to version 'c' the dump that you posted lists version 'a' as yours. Many many bugs have been fixed since then. Try that and see if it helps, if not post here again and well see what we can do.

Just to close out this thread, I upgraded to version "c", no help. I ended up bit by bit (no pun intended) moving the elements to a new track, then saving. For some reason if I was not zoomed in, it let me select the elements and move them to a new track. Then I deleted the culprit track. So far seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the help.

I also have run into exception error problems, using Vegas 3.0c and Win XP, every time I defrag my hard drive. I was told to reinstall Vegas. This works--until I defrag again, which is quite necessary periodically with digital video. Then I get an exception error and have to install again. I'm hoping there will be a 3.0d to resolve this....
