exporting regions

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any way of exporting a video region as individual frames?
Sort of like importing an image sequence, but in reverse.

I know i can do this by capturing each frame as a PNG or JPEG, but thought there may be a quicker way, like a script for eg.

I'd like to be able to export the frames so that I can effect them in Photoshop.

Thanks,

T

Export Range from Joe Sacher will accomplish this, as can Ultimate S 1/2

It's not a fast process, but both tools can export png's or jpegs from a selected area.

And, of course, VirtualDub can do this without any script -- it's right there on the File menu.

Thanks for the speedy replies guys....

DSE, I tried Joe Sacher's Script and I just get an error message: "Error- Directory does not exist". Don't know why, maybe the script doesn't work in V6.

John, I'm afraid that I am not familiar with what VirtualDub is, or does... If it's not too much trouble, maybe you could enlighten me or point me in the direction of some references.

Thanks again for the replies.

John, I just found and downloaded VirtualDub and successfully exported an image sequence. Thanks for the tip.

One thing though, can this be run from Vegas? or do I have to do it from the standalone app?

Cheers,

...I'm afraid that I am not familiar with what VirtualDub is...

First thing to mention is that it's free.
From the VirtualDub home page:

VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility for 32-bit Windows platforms (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP), licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL). It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is streamlined for fast linear operations over video. It has batch-processing capabilities for processing large numbers of files and can be extended with third-party video filters. VirtualDub is mainly geared toward processing AVI files, although it can read (not write) MPEG-1 and also handle sets of BMP images.

To export a range of images, load the file in, select File - Save Image Sequence, and fill out the information.
