Exporting TIFF or PNG

Been searching the old posts for information about exporting a series of TIFF images and noticed a few discussions regarding image quality. What's the final word on which format is better and more importantly, how do I render out a sequence from video to another application (i.e. Photoshop?)

Vegas 5 comes with a script under the Scripting menu.
