Exporting via Firewire

I understand that I can export edited AVI files I've created in MovieStudioi back to my camcorder or to an external DVD recorder via firewire. That's the same connection I used to download from the camcorder to my computer. But I don't know what to do to start the export process.

I'm using MovieStudio 3. One of the rendering options is Save to Camcorder DV Tape. Would that be the way to go? Another option woudl be Save to Hard Drive, providing to Firewire connection to the DVD recorder shows up as a file path. I can't try that out right now because I don't have the proper Firewiare cable.

Any suggestions?

I have the correct Firewire cable now, but the proposed export doesn't seem to work. So I decided to work incrementally and try exporting to the camcorder that I used to generate the original video clips. This procedure is supposed to work for sure (according to the Movie Studio manual). A subsequent post describes the problem I am having with that. That post can be considered as superceding this one.
