Ext Mon through Digital8?

OK, so a search for "external monitor" got me over 2200 hits and "set up" got me over 11000 on the search.
Sorry, but it's really nice outside and I don't want to spend hours looking for an answer to this... hope you understand.
I've got my TRV-460 Digital8 (similar to TRV-361) camcorder hooked up to the PC via firewire. I've got my 13" TV hooked up to the D8 via the mini-plug on the cam and the white/yellow plugs on the TV.
I could see everything fine on the TV last night when capturing.
Today, I'm trying to use the TV as an external monitor, but I'm not getting anything. The Sony cam manual doesn't go into enough details to help much.
In Vegas, I've got video device selected as the firewire port. I've got Ext Mon selected for the preview. I've tried the different modes for the camera (play/edit, camera) without any success.
Does anyone know how I can successfully set up my D8 to use as a pass through for the 13" TV?
Does anyone know if the TRV-460 supports pass through?

Thanks

Mario

Mario, try setting A/V > DV OUT to ON (top of p. 79 in the manual).

Thanks Mike, but it was already set to that.
What's wierd is that I saw the tape as it was capturing on the TV. If I select to see the info on th D8's LCD display also on the TV, I can see it.
I'm really hoping I'm just missing something basic here. I'm hoping it's not a problem with the camera.
I'll keep looking. I went through Spot's Vegas 4 Editing book but didn't see anything that might help. Maybe I missed something.

Mario, out of curiosity, can you print-to-tape from Vegas with the camera? When you do it, do you see the display in the camera's LCD monitor?
If yes, now plug in the AV cables from the camcorder and your TV. Does the signal feed through now?
The only other thing I can think of is to hook everything up before turning on the camera. Other than that, I have no idea. Like you said, it should work.

I don't have/never have had a Digital 8 deck, so can't comment. You won't find Digital 8 mentioned anywhere in the book for that reason.
If you want more on connections... you could read

My digital8 has to be switched on before I fire up my editing programme, (Vegas), otherwise I get nothing. Good luck.
