A computer monitor won't work as a external preview monitor, at least not an accurate one. The whole reason to have a external monitor for preview is to actually see what the finished product will look like on a TV, if you view it on a computer there is really no point in having a external preview at all.

Maybe you can look at the Canopus ADVC100, lots of folks use it with Vegas. But concerning the "accuracy issue" the above post is right.
But my guess is that you don't really care about it for now: you seem to just want another monitor to work with, right?

BTW: I'll give you a hint: Matrox makes a *PCI* multi-monitor card that maybe you could use along with your existing card. I don't know about the price though, but I wouldn't be surprised that it's less expensive than the Canopus box. Here's a link (PDF):
